El SALVADOR – Strengthening Secondary Technical Education
The overall objective of the project is to support the Ministry of Education (MOE) of El Salvador to strengthen the Secondary Technical Education.
The purposes of this contract are to:
- Provide technical and strategic advice to MOE and to the Agency for the Technical Education and Technology (ATET), in the implementation of policies aiming at strengthening the Secondary Technical Education.
- Support the strengthening of the management capacity of ATET through the update of the regulatory framework aiming at designing models for awareness raising, vocational training and the sustainability of the secondary technical education, including the accreditation of skills.
- Support the modernization of ATET offer through the design and the update of curricula taking into consideration the labour market demand.
- Support the adequacy of infrastructure and laboratories in schools.
The results of the project are:
- Strengthen the regulatory framework for the design of awareness and accreditation models in the secondary technical education.
- Design and delivery of updated programmes for technical undergraduates.
- Provision of Vocational Guidance and Scholarship Programs.
- Training delivery for teachers and managers of secondary technical education.
- Improve the infrastructure in the laboratories and update the equipment in schools.
- Improve the management capacity of ATET.

ETF – European Training Foundation
KYRGYSZTAN, KAZAKHSTAN AND UZBEKISTAN – Evaluation of the ETF Project ‘Training for enterprise development of enterprises in Central Asia’
The aim of the project was to evaluate the results achieved by a previous European Training Foundation initiative – titled Training for Enterprise Development and implemented in Central Asia, namely Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan (during years 1999 – 2001).
Ifoa project ‘Evaluation of TED’ foresaw the contribution of a team of 3 senior experts which was in charge of carrying out the project evaluation according to EU methodologies and standards. The evaluation activity also provided information to improve future planning of ETF initiatives to sustain enterprises in the Central-Asiatic region.

UZBEKISTAN – Creation of and Support to a Market Skills Development Centre
Establishment of a technically and financially sustainable centre in Tashkent targeting training and consulting needs of local SMEs and Micro-Enterprises to develop their business. Production of a media programme to reinforce a market oriented culture. Tasks included: training needs analysis; curricula development and production of training packages in marketing, business administration, human resources development and financial management; training of trainers, entrepreneurs and officers; ODL materials; consultancy in business planning and start-up; organization of study-tours to Italian SMEs.

TURKMENISTAN – Training in the field of economics and business management
Provision of technical assistance to Ashgabat University in order to establish the basis for new undergraduate programmes to improve qualification of economists. Key-areas of intervention included: a) strategic, administrative, financial and structural planning support to universities; b) curricula development; c) training of lecturers; d) enhancement of language training and computer capabilities. Tasks included: requalification training for academics in Macro-Economics, Micro-economics, Business Management, Marketing, Accountancy and Finance, Statistical methods. Applied research studies in EU companies for 20 academics. Management advisory services to university organizational and administrative staff.
