Since 1996 IFOA has prepared a didactic, methodological and organizational model for the delivery of E-learning courses. The strength points of this model are:

• the didactic methodology
• the technological platform
• the didactic materials
• the online tutoring

The technological platform adopted (Learning Management System) allows a high degree of interactivity between the trainer and the learner thanks to the possibility of managing synchronous live sessions and to the tools of web 2.0 .

The flexibility of the system is given by the possibility to personalize the environment at several levels through:

• a smart management of information and documentation
• the creation of personal and group areas endowed of tools for communication and exchange of materials

Tools available in the platform there are:

• Discussion forum
• Chat
• Virtual Classroom
• Message systems (ads, mails, voice Email, short texts)
• Blog
• Wiki

Each curriculum is divided into didactic units, designed ad hoc by the team of experts/trainers to guide the student to reaching his/her learning objectives. The didactic materials include:

• Workbook: a short guide to the didactic path, detailing times and steps of the learning process
• Slide show: registred lessons with ppt slides and audio texts
• Registration of lessons in virtual classroom;
• Teaching aids, comprising multimedia
• Exercises and self-assessment tests, also in itinere, both at objective (corrected by the system) and open reply (corrected by tutor and trainers);
• Case studies
• Supplementary materials: e.g. articles, acts of seminars, etc
• Bibliography and interesting websites

Among the numerous products and experiences realized in the field of e-learning, it should be mentioned Universitas Mercatorum, the Telematic University officially recognized by the Ministry of Education, University and Research in 2005, of which IFOA is methodological and technological partner. The Telematic University addresses its courses to already employed people that want to obtain an academic title in the field of business management: the role of IFOA is to assure methodological quality standards and to deliver the technological services linked to the on-line courses.
